Celebration of the Founder's Legacy
1. Celebration of the Founder's Legacy
On February 19th, the Scout Association of Guyana celebrated the birth anniversary of our founder, Baden Powell, with a parade and fun day. This was the first such event since the COVID-19 pandemic and it was a wonderful opportunity for our members to come together in a safe and enjoyable way.
The parade was a great success, with members of all ages marching through the streets in full Scout uniform. It was heartening to see the enthusiasm and pride that our members had for the Scout movement and its values.
Following the parade, the fun day began, with youth members competing in a variety of fun games, including the lime and spoon race, sack race, tug of war, and much more. The event was also an opportunity for groups, like St. Margaret's Venture Scouts to raise funds through a small cake and juice sale.

We were honored to have Rhonda Slusher, Management Officer at the US Embassy, in attendance at the event. Her presence was a testament to the importance and impact of the Scout movement and its values on young people and communities.
The Scout Association of Guyana is committed to providing opportunities for our members to develop their character, leadership, and citizenship, and events like the parade and fun day are a vital part of this effort. We look forward to continuing to celebrate the life and legacy of Baden Powell and the Scouting movement in Guyana.
